I don’t know what it is about February, but I always think about planning a vacation this time of year. Maybe it’s because the weather here in South Texas is always such a roller coaster — cold and windy one day and warm and sunny the next. I don’t know whether to wear shorts and flip-flops or sweatpants and cozy socks!
Thinking about planning a vacation led me to daydream: What if someone dropped out of the sky and said, “All right. I will give you unlimited resources and time to travel anywhere you like. The only catch is that you must create a vacation vlog (a video journal) and post daily!”

Here’s what I wrote:
I love learning about history and I enjoy visiting museums, so I would create a vacation vlog about my ultimate cross-country tour of museums. I’d hit all the most popular museums like the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., but I’d also try to pick the more unusual, off-the-beaten-path museums, too.
One of these more unusual museums would have to be the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, N.M. My husband and I enjoyed a trip through New Mexico over the holidays, and we were so close to Roswell, we thought “why not?” Boy, was it ever a weird experience!
We’re not believers in little, green men (or grays, for that matter), but it was interesting to see people from around the world walking among displays and artifacts of the 1947 Roswell Incident.
For my vlog, it would be fun to interview museum visitors to get their take on America’s most famous UFO story. It would also be fun to go around Roswell and videotape all the different, green aliens in front of businesses along the main drag. You know how some cities have statues of animals like the cows in Chicago or the sheep in San Angelo, Texas? Well, Roswell has alien statutes and the city’s streetlights even have alien eyes!
